Face lift surgery, also known as rhytidectomy, is a very serious procedure that should never be taken lightly. Most face lift procedures are conducted for the purpose of reducing or improving upon signs of aging in various areas of the face and neck.
Lots of people will reach a point in their lives where they will become bothered by their facial appearance undergoing significant changes. If you’re one of these people then face lift surgery could be the answer to your problems. Many people aren’t comfortable with visible signs of aging; therefore, they turn to alternatives looking to so call reverse the signs of aging and face lift surgery has become the most popular; and often times, the only choice to make for sagging areas of the face, deep creases in places like the lower eyelids and various other places extending from the corner of the mouth and nose area.
Contrary to what many people may believe, in terms of a restorative surgery, a facelift actually cannot stop the natural occurrences of aging or cause significant changes to your original appearance; however, it’s highly capable of altering a person’s appearance through surgery. Non-surgical treatments are made available to the public as well, under the guise of rejuvenation treatments which can never achieve the results in which a surgical procedure can perform. As a matter of fact, they may even delay the process of having plastic surgery conducted and complicate matters during the procedure which is more of a reason to have an initial consultation before the procedure is performed.
Face lift surgery is a very broad term and can consist of a number of facelift variations from facial implants to simple thread lifts and from thermages to eyebrow lifts. Therefore when considering facelift surgery the most important segment involving the procedure is the initial consultation on account of it creating an opportunity to address so many issues of concern before a surgeon performs the actual surgery.
The important thing to remember is that there are charlatans out there that are practicing under the disguise of certified surgeons. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has put out a warning for consumers to be aware of such people who are practicing in the field of cosmetic or plastic surgery as unlicensed providers. These could be doctors who have all the capabilities of performing the procedure but are not licensed to do so. This warning was prompted by the event involving three women in North Carolina that caught a case of kidney failure from a simple injection in the buttocks; however, the injection was administered by an unlicensed provider, who was eventually apprehended an brought to justice for practicing medicine illegally.
For the abovementioned reason, it is critical that potential clients or patients for facelift surgery perform extensive research into not only the facilities in which the surgeons are practicing in but also on the surgeons themselves. Every surgeon practicing in the United States and Canada must be a board certified member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or in Canada by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
