For example, Lidocaine anesthetic is joined together with human collagen to make-up Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast, human based collagens that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Neither of these treatments requires skin testing and can last up to 2 to 6 months. And then there’s Artefill, dermal filler that was designed to eliminate frequent visits to the dermatologist for repeat treatment. It’s composed of poly methyl Methacrylate and bovine collagen. Just as with Radiesse, it cannot be used on the lips either. This is one of the few dermal filler treatments that do require skin testing on account of the risk of hypersensitivity; plus, Artefill is animal based instead of human based like the aforementioned fillers and the result could last as far as five years.
